the moheno ship wreck.

the champagne pools. this is the only saltwater area without sharks. rocks form a secluded area in the shallow water and the waves break over the rocks creating tons of foam, almost like champagne.

me on the first night on fraser island.

the view from our campsite on fraser island.

not sure who this is but we saw him on the beach while we were driving by. he said the entire time he reeled the fish in a huge shark was chasing it into shore.

me and simon at the lake wabby lookout.

simon and me at lake mckenzie.

lake mckenzie on fraser island.

my group for a 3 day 2 night camping trip on fraser island. the island is basically one huge sandbar with beaches, lakes, and jungle. swimming in the ocean is dangerous becuase the area is a breeding ground for tiger sharks and also many jellyfish. instead there are fresh water lakes that are beautiful.

it is now a little less than one month until i arrive back in the states. these past 4 months have been amazing. i only have good things to say about australia. saturday was my last day of work becuase that is when my visa expired, and i have to say i'm quite sad to not be working. i met alot of awesome people through work, many of which i plan on staying in touch with when i come back to the states.
i heard the weather back home is terribly cold. the weather here has been on and off rainy, but hopefully some sunny days are in my future. up north in queensland there has been massive flooding and down in melbourne there was a huge party thrown by a teenager that made big news. check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Jw-i-dUMwM and you can see what happened. also, i was at work just lastnight and a photographer from a local magazine came in with a guy dressed up as the kid corey in the film. they are putting the pics in the next weeks issue as a joke on the kid corey. i was in some of the pictures so if the magazine is online i will try to send the link as well.
on jan 31 i am headed up the coast on a bus to byron bay, surfers paradise, and fraser island. i have seen some photos of these places and it looks like paradise. i'm super excited and will be posting pictures to chart my journey.
oh yeah heard the giants are headed to the super bowl. what a shame. i dont get to watch much football here, but i get to watch my share of cricket. it is probably one of the most boring games to watch but there always seems to be a game on whenever i turn the tv on.
tomorrow night i head to the opera house and i will have to take lots of pics when i get there!
hope everyone is well and staying warm! i'm trying to keep cool as temps are in the lower 90s :)
