hello

well not too much has been going on here. i've been working and trying to keep busy for the most part. i really enjoying working becuase it keeps me occupied and it goes by really fast. some nights they have me cleaning up empty beer glasses all night and i work behind the bar making sure theres plenty of glasses for the bartenders. other nights they have me work at the front door taking down names of people who are 21 and under. the legal drinking age is 18 but the place i work has been fined for underage drinking. so in order to look professional they have to keep a record of who is there that is under21. poeple under 21 also have to have two forms of idenification, which at most bars its uneccessary. this is just so my work doesn't get in trouble again for underage drinking. working at the front door can get boring, but its funny to see all the drunk people who the bouncers wont let in. alot of times the bouncer will ask you how much you've had to drink before they let you in. if they think you're too drunk they wont let you in!

anyway i have heard that the eagles aren't doing so well, but the flyers are doing great. let me know whats been going on with that. has it been getting colder at home? the weather here has been fairly warm. most days its been in the low 80s or high 70s but it will soon be changing to really hot temps since summer is coming. oh yeah they dont really cellebrate halloween here. i didnt know anyone who was dressing up or even made a big deal about it. at ECU that was one of the biggest party nights where people came from all over just to cellebrate.

i havent taken any new pictures, although i think i might be headed to the blue mountains soon. they have day trips to the blue mountains which i have heard its really beautiful and its really cheap to get there. so maybe i will head there for the day before it gets too hot.

i saw online today about the police officer that was shot at the dunkin donuts. that is really sad and disturbing. what is being done in philadelphia to stop this kind of stuff from happening??
well its time for me to fold my laundry and clean up my room. hope everyone is well! keep posting comments!

Hey Jess:

I have been meaning to get in touch with you for a while! I did see all of your pix -- very nice! I am glad you are enjoying life as an Aussie! The weather here in Philly has been up and down lately -- today it's beautiful -- 68 or 70! But it has been getting a little chilly at night! No Halloween in Australia??? You must have really missed it this year coming off of all the ECU Halloween celebrations!!!

My gang did get a lot of candy -- way too much!! but we had fun -- Justin was a goulish monster (surprise, surprise); Allie was a Diva pop star; and Christian was spiderman. I was just a MOM!

You heard about the cop getting shot? in Australia? -- he actually passed away today (11/1) -- very sad day for PO's and the city -- he was the third philly cop shot in 5 days in the city -- this city is such a pit -- I hate saying I am from Philadelphia anymore -- I only wish something could be done -- the killer is still out on the loose -- he even took the officer's gun as he was laying there -- he was shot in the head. They even had schools on lock down in the surrounding areas -- as far as Jenks in Chestnut Hill and I heard even Cheltenham SD was on lock down -- Chris said morale is really low and everyone is frustrated -- Michael Nutter is really going to have a full plate when he takes office in January.

Will you be in Aus for Christmas -- it will be warm, right? that will be quite different! Hopefully our nice mild weather will stick around too!

Well -- keep posting and I'll talk to you soon!

Take care!

Aunt Patti

hey jess,
Sounds like your job is going well. Does this mean that you're finally off mom & dad's payroll!! I don't know if I told you they caught the cop killer...found him in miami in a shelter...the police were tipped off by a corrections officer that was in his mothers house (I think)...he admitted it and then took off for miami...a cousin is being charged with aiding him...the cousin gave him the money for the bus ticket...here's hoping that all of this is a wake-up call for the city of Philadelphia to get its act together and get this city turned around...it is Friday morning here Nov. 9 and when I got into my car this morning it was 37...too chilly...but I think it's going to warm up into the 50's for the next several days...what are the blue mountains and where are they...how will you get there...I hope not on a motorcycle...we will let you know how the eagles do against the redskins...there's so much talk going on about the eagles...they are really on the hot seat especially mcnabb...the flyers are doing very well even though they lost the other nite to the devils...they finally beat the penguins after losing to them last year...it looks like simon gagne will be out again with recurring problems from a concussion...hope you have a good weekend there in aussie land...what will the temps be there once summer hits...talk to you soon and be safe!
love you,
mom
